One of the largest and most traditional art fairs in the world, ARCOmadrid takes place this year between February 27th and March 3rd in the Spanish capital. With the participation of 203 galleries from 30 countries, including 9 Brazilian galleries, the fair reaches its 38th edition.

ARCOmadrid will have Peru as the country of honor, which means that there will be a special section of the fair entirely dedicated to the South American country – curated by Sharon Lerner, from the Lima Art Museum, and the participation of 23 artists from 15 galleries. According to the text of the organization of the event, Peru “has been known for its contemporary artistic production, especially for photography and video installation”.

The participating Brazilian galleries are Anita Schwartz, Baró, Casa Triângulo, Cavalo, Fortes D'Aloia & Gabriel, Marilia Razuk, Vermelho, Sé and Luisa Strina – most of them associated with ABACT (Brazilian Association of Contemporary Art) and participating in the project. Latitude. Two other national houses, 55SP and Via Thorey, will also be in Madrid participating in the JustMAD fair, which reaches its 10th edition this year.

Taking advantage of the effervescent artistic moment that the fairs provide, cultural spaces and museums in the city such as Reina Sofía, Prado and Matadero receive special programming during the period. Several galleries in Madrid also organize exhibitions at their headquarters.
