CINEMA | Since May 30th, Brazil has a streaming service. CINEMA | Since May 30th, Brazil has had a free public streaming service. Tela Brasil was developed by the Ministry of Culture in partnership with the Federal University of Alagoas and brings together 555 works produced between 1910 and 2025, from feature films and short films to series. On the eve of the second round of elections, we have selected films from the catalog that help us reflect on Brazilian democracy. The list ranges from Cinema Novo films like "Terra em Transe" to documentaries such as "Jango" and "Divinas Divas," and touches on the dictatorship, the press during election periods, inequality, and the rights of those marginalized by official history. Part of the collection was financed by the Audiovisual Sector Fund, and another part comes from public institutions such as the Brazilian Cinematheque, Funarte, and the Palmares Foundation. EXHIBITION | Nam June, a South Korean, died in 2006. EXHIBITION | Nam June Paik, who died in 2006, is considered the founder of video art. He was one of the first to use television as an artistic medium, back in the 1960s, and years later began connecting artists from distant countries through live satellite broadcasts. He studied in Japan and Germany, where he became close to John Cage and Fluxus, and lived much of his life in New York. He also maintained ties with the Brazilian art scene, which considers him one of its references. In “Via Satélite – Diálogos com Nam June Paik” (Satellite – Dialogues with Nam June Paik), the first of two exhibitions that the Pinacoteca dedicates to the artist within the Hyundai Translocal Series, his work appears alongside that of two artists. From cellist Charlotte Moorman, his closest collaborator, come “TV Cello” and a recording of the Documenta 6 broadcast in 1977. Vivian Caccuri presents a new sound installation, created for the occasion. Together, the works address the relationship between body, sound, time, and technology, a central theme throughout Paik's work. SERVICE 📍 Pina Contemporânea, Galeria Praça (ground floor) – Av. POLITICS | Speeches that downplay coups, that s POLITICS | Speeches that downplay coups, dream of a return to a regime of exception, or treat institutions as obstacles to be removed are not mere opinions in the marketplace of ideas. They are concrete threats to a pact that has cost the country dearly. And culture, historically, is one of the first victims when this pact breaks down. But history also teaches that art has always found loopholes. It speaks through metaphors when direct words are forbidden, circulates through unexpected paths when official spaces close, and survives regimes that tried to erase it. 📌Read the full text by Giuliano de Miranda (@giuliano.2803) on the website artebrasileiros.com.br (link in bio) #elections2026 #art #culture
EXHIBITION | In adolescence and youth, André EXHIBITION | During his adolescence and youth, André Barion became so interested in fashion that he sewed his own clothes for two years. This repertoire reappears in the exhibition "Every Detail," on display at Galeria Estação. For curator Amanda Tavares, the strength of the work lies in escaping categories. "In his case, one language happens within another, and what is produced is not exactly a fusion, but a zone of transit," she says. "The procedure that constructs the works is also the one that disrupts our attempt to classify them." SERVICE 📍 Galeria Estação — Rua Ferreira de Araújo, 625, Pinheiros, São Paulo 🗓️ On display until November 28, 2026 🕒 Monday to Friday, 11 am–19 pm | Saturday, 11 am–15 pm 🎟️ Free admission

BOOK | Photojournalist Mônica Zarattini launches new book. BOOK | Photojournalist Mônica Zarattini launches this Thursday (15), through Lovely House, “— My father is a traveler.”, a photobook with 77 images accompanied by an enclosed book of 22 chapters. The author reconstructs the relationship with her father, Ricardo Zarattini Filho, between 1969 and 1979, from her 7 to 17 years old. “My childhood was marked by the military dictatorship and my adolescence by clandestinity. I became a photographer during the redemocratization, but my father's story always reached me truncated and veiled,” says Mônica. To reconstruct it, she consulted the DEOPS archives and opened boxes of family letters and photographs. The book arrives on the eve of the second round, in an election in which the PL candidate is the son of a former president convicted of attempted coup d'état, the same one who, in 2016, honored Colonel Brilhante Ustra in the Chamber's plenary. Reading the Zarattini family's story now is a reminder of what's at stake. SERVICE 📍 Lovely House bookstore, Galeria Metrópole, Av.
