EXHIBITION | The Mário de Andrade Library presents EXHIBITION | The Mário de Andrade Library presents “Jazz — the artist's book by Henri Matisse”, an exhibition produced and conceived by MAB FAAP and co-organized by FAAP and the City of São Paulo. The show displays the 20 works that make up Jazz, one of the most important publications of 20th-century art, and marks the return to the public of eight engravings that had been stolen from the Library's collection and were recently recovered. Published in 1947 by Verve editions, Jazz was born during a period of physical limitation for Matisse. After serious surgery, the artist spent long periods resting and found in paper cutouts painted with gouache a new possibility of expression, a technique he called "drawing with scissors". For Matisse, the combination of colors should function as in music; it was not enough to place them side by side, they needed to act upon each other. SERVICE 📍 Mário de Andrade Library — Rua da Consolação, 94, Centro, São Paulo 🗓️ Until October 12, 2026 🎟️ Free admission

EXHIBITION | This Saturday, September 12th, the Museum EXHIBITION | This Saturday, September 12th, the Museum of Modern Art of São Paulo reopens its headquarters in Ibirapuera Park with the inauguration of the 39th Panorama of Brazilian Art: After Everything Has Been Said, curated by Diane Lima. The museum had been away from its home for two years, since the beginning of the restoration works on the Ibirapuera Marquise. The exhibition brings together 33 artists from 11 Brazilian states. The title comes from a formulation by the philosopher Denise Ferreira da Silva, and the project invites us to imagine "whether it would be possible to draw upon a sensibility that presumes and anticipates what lies beyond everything that has been said and done about colonial and racial violence, and the work they perform for global capital." On opening day, at 11 am, Diane Lima and Denise Ferreira da Silva will have a conversation in the museum's auditorium, followed by the launch of the Panorama publication — 364 pages with unpublished texts by Diane Lima, Denise Ferreira da Silva, Christina Sharpe, and David Lloyd. ART AND ARCHITECTURE | The underground passage that... ART AND ARCHITECTURE | The underground passage that MASP inaugurates this Thursday, September 11th, connects the Lina Bo Bardi and Pietro Maria Bardi buildings beneath Avenida Paulista. Architect Martin Corullon, from the firm METRO Arquitetos Associados, responsible for the project, explains that the passage was planned from the first sketches of the expansion, whose idea was always to create a single museum, despite the two buildings. The passage, 50 meters long and over 4,5 meters wide, creates a large continuous space for the public, as well as allowing the transit of artworks, technical teams, and equipment. It is in this space that Beatriz Milhazes installed Pietrolina, a 98-meter immersive painting conceived especially for the passage, curated by Adriano Pedrosa and Amanda Carneiro. Swipe to see more!
HONORIS CAUSA | “The granting of titles to Gilbert HONORIS CAUSA | “The awarding of these titles to Gilberto Gil and Cláudia Andujar represents USP's recognition of trajectories that transcend the limits of their respective languages and intertwine with the very cultural and social history of Brazil. These are artists who have made their works a way of understanding the country, broadening horizons, and affirming the importance of freedom, diversity, and human dignity through music and photography. For USP, honoring Gilberto Gil and Cláudia Andujar means recognizing that the production of knowledge is not limited to academic spaces,” stated the Rector of USP, physician Aluísio Segurado. 📌Read the full text by Jotabê Medeiros (@jotabemedeiros) on the website artebrasileiros.com.br (link in bio) #gilbertogil #claudiaandujar #honoriscausa #usp
