The program, which includes visits to cultural spaces, will have 15 in-person meetings, on Tuesdays, from 18 pm to 20 pm. Pre-registration must be done via an online form. EXHIBITION | "Freedom: a plural neighborhood", on display EXHIBITION | "Liberdade: Bairro Plural" (Liberty: A Plural Neighborhood), on display at the Museu do Ipiranga, chose to address the history of the Liberdade neighborhood through the institutions that occupied it over time, "including those that are no longer in the neighborhood and were forced to leave by political movements, basically," explains curator Paulo Garcez Marins. This happened with the Frente Negra Brasileira (Brazilian Black Front), perhaps the most surprising revelation of the exhibition. The research conducted by Garcez, Mônica Raisa Schpun, Aline Montenegro Magalhães, Francisco Andrade, and David Ribeiro concluded that the Frente Negra Brasileira operated where the Casa de Portugal building is located today and left no archives, as did the Liga Itálica (Italian League), which closed in 2010 and whose presence was also practically erased from history. "These are institutions that, in some way, fulfilled their role, but whose lives were also cut short," says Garcez. 📌Read the full text by Jotabê Medeiros (@jotabemedeiros) on the website artebrasileiros.com.br (link in bio). #liberdade #bairrodaliberdade #museudoipiranga #frentenegrabrasileira

CULTURE | There's a curious fact about colored ants CULTURE | There's a curious fact about leafcutter ants: despite their small size, they can transport leaves, bark, branches, and plant fragments that weigh dozens of times more than their own bodies. The feat is impressive for its strength, but also for its organization. In Barbalha, in southern Ceará, this principle is repeated on a human scale annually. Under a sun exceeding 30º Celsius, about 200 men carried a 23-meter-long, three-ton angico tree trunk along a seven-kilometer route, from Sítio São Joaquim to the city's Historic Center on May 31st. 📌Read the full text by Bibiana Belisário (@bibianabelisario) on the website artebrasileiros.com.br (link in bio) 📸Photos by Samuel Macedo (@samuelmacedo_fotografo)
MUSEUMS | In 2026, Inhotim will celebrate its 20th anniversary and with MUSEUMS | In 2026, Inhotim celebrates its 20th anniversary with initiatives in the arts, ecology, and education. In the latter, the "Decentralizing Access" project stands out, one of the institution's longest-running initiatives, which this year invites teachers from all over the country to investigate the museum's own collection. Created in 2008, "Decentralizing Access"—an initiative of the museum's Education and Territory Directorate in partnership with the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG)—adopts a theme each year. This year, the chosen theme is the institution's own collection, composed of more than 1.800 works by over 280 artists. "Learning from the collections: contemporary collections and questions for the present" marks the museum's 20th anniversary, which looks at itself critically. 📌 Read the full text by Lara Paiva (@lara.apv) on the website artebrasileiros.com.br (link in bio) Photos: Brendon Campos
EXHIBITION | The MAC Dragão, in Fortaleza, opens n EXHIBITION | The MAC Dragão, in Fortaleza, opens on July 18th "Celestial Terror", a group exhibition curated by Lucas Dilacerda, which brings together 24 LGBT+ artists to address the history of coloniality as the story of a horror film. Venice Biennale | The European Commission recommended VENICE BIENNALE | The European Commission has recommended the cancellation of €2 million allocated to the Venice Biennale in response to Russia's participation—the country's first return to the event since the invasion of Ukraine in 2022. According to Henna Virkkunen, head of the Commission, "Culture in Europe, funded with taxpayers' money, must promote and protect democratic values" which "are not respected in Russia today." The Biennale argued that removing Russia would constitute censorship and stated that the programs will proceed as planned. Swipe to see more!
Venice Biennale | Several themes guided the development VENICE BIENNALE | Several themes guided the conceptual development and choreography of this biennale's exhibition: the procession, the Creole garden—a precursor to the concept of agroforestry, which mixes different plant species in the same space—the invitation to enchantment, and the importance of physical and spiritual rest. Rest areas with various types of chairs are part of the exhibition design. At the same time, this edition, inspired by carnival processions originating in Afro-Brazilian religions, invites the body to create a fluid and breathing space. This results in a great deal of dialogue between the works and few individual rooms, even though the artists are generously represented, generally with many works. 📌Read the full text by @cypriano for issue #75 of arte!brasileirosThis is available to Arte✱plus contributors.
