Vanderlei Lopes, "The past is a beautiful present!", 2018

The55Project opened, on January 30th, the collective exhibition What I really want to tell you… at Mana Contemporary Chicago. The show had been on display for three months at the Pablo Atchugarry Foundation in Miami last year and is curated by Jennifer Inacio, assistant curator at the Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM).

What I really want to tell you… brings together works by thirteen contemporary Brazilian artists that evoke cultural, social and political histories of Brazil. They are Almandrade, Liene Bosquê, Paulo Bruscky, Anna Bella Geiger, Rubens Gerchman, Ivan Grilo, Randolpho Lamonier, Vanderlei Lopes, Gabriela Mutti, Paulo Nazareth, Regina Parra, Rosana Paulino and Mano Penalva.

The tour is the result of the objective of The55Project, created to promote contemporary Brazilian art around the United States, having held other exhibitions in New York, Miami and now arriving in Chicago. In addition to exhibitions, the project does public art projects, public programs and conversations to create dialogue with local communities.
