Exhibition "Will to live given given" by Ernesto Neto

Forts D'Aloia & Gabriel presents Will to live given given, a new solo exhibition of Ernest Net, which opened simultaneously in the Barra Funda and Jardins spaces of the gallery in São Paulo.

Bringing together a new set of sculptural installations, works on paper, and textual interventions, the exhibition expands the artist's long-standing investigation into the interdependence between bodies, materials, and living systems. Distributed between the two spaces, sculptures in cotton crochet, braided ropes, bamboo, corten steel, and clay assume organic configurations that evoke insects, roots, mountains, forests, and other hybrid forms, proposing sculpture as a field of continuous relationships, movement, and transformation.

At the heart of the exhibition is a new series of mural sculptures that Neto calls InsePás: tensioned, cellular structures that expand across the walls, ceilings, and corners of the architecture like living organisms or flows of energy traversing space. Developed from previous research on suspension, balance, and relational structures, these works deepen the artist's understanding of sculpture as something activated by encounter, not as a static form. In dialogue with them, the exhibition includes a large-scale sculpture in corten steel whose branching structure simultaneously evokes a mountainous landscape and a living body sustained by relationships of balance and mutual support.

Together, the works transform the gallery into a permeable ecosystem, rather than a neutral exhibition space. Sculpture, drawing, writing, and sound are articulated as manifestations of a worldview marked by cosmological thought, ecological interdependence, and embodied knowledge. Instead of establishing separations between nature and culture, or between architecture and the body, the exhibition proposes an environment in which human and non-human forms coexist in constant exchange, reaffirming Neto's understanding that life is sustained through relationships, reciprocity, and the shared vitality among all beings.
