The Parque Cultural Center presents the collective exhibition "Crimson burst", as part of their II Exhibition Cycle of the year. Curated by Claudio Cretti, artistic director of the House, the collective brings together works by Ana PrataAnderson BorbaMary AndradePedro France e rodrigo andrade.

The exhibition proposes a reflection on the procedures and operations that constitute artistic practice and the work of art, highlighting different languages, modes of construction, and materialities that reverberate with intensity. In the critical text, Thais Rivitti It points out that it is not possible to formulate a general idea or a conceptual approach capable of encompassing the entirety of what is presented, since the exhibition invites the public to observe closely how the artists work and build their research over time.

“Setting aside the circumstantial references that each work inevitably holds and paying attention to its modes of construction. Following the gaze, gliding between the works, traversing surfaces, getting entangled in knotty knots, encountering harder and more opaque materials, oscillating along with the most frenetic vibrations. In this way, it is possible to see the works conversing with each other,” describes the art critic and curator.

The exhibition features two major works by Pedro France (Rio de Janeiro, 1984) that start from a fragmented support, composed of collages of smaller pieces of paper. His construction strategy is that of accumulation, in which the artist's drawings, transferred to the canvas using the monotype technique, are superimposed, creating density and weight through the insistence and abundance of lines and important marks of the artist's work: torn areas, overlaps, collages.

In the works of Anderson Borba (Santos, 1972), in opposition to accumulation, the action often begins with the subtraction of matter, through the thinning of wood, the gesture of carving, drilling and excavating. His sculptures also show a special attention to surfaces, approaching questions of painting itself: in addition to volume and weight, his work investigates the forms of perception of matter.

In the field of painting — although artists constantly intertwine languages — the light and atmospheric paintings of Mary Andrade (São Paulo, 1967) are driven by color. In the series chosen for the exhibition, she installs small metal wings on the works, creating a suspended territory that oscillates between the idea of making the objects float and being trapped in space.

Yes, Ana Prata (Sete Lagoas, 1980) approaches the everyday world—with fragments of architecture, coverings, furniture, and household objects—to displace their usual conditions and expand not only their presence in the visual field, but also the condition of isolation of the objects in the void. Also using the world as a plastic repertoire, rodrigo andrade (São Paulo, 1962) pays attention to paint as a material. In his long career in the field of painting, paint becomes an almost sculptural material, with density and weight, creating rough or smooth surfaces that present themselves in different ways to the viewer.

In addition to the press conference, the II Exhibition Cycle includes the individual ones "Politics of the Surface," by Ana Raylander Mártis dos Anjos (Office) and "Mythologies of mystery"Omep (Project 280X1020). For curator Claudio Cretti, “this cycle proposes to challenge the constitutive dimensions of contemporary artistic practice, expanding the possibilities of interpreting the world and highlighting, in these frictions, the power of opposition”.

Still on July 25th, the program of Performances from the House presents "Love is a forest", an installation performance of Rodrigo Munhoz aka Experimental Love in which urban plants, connected to sensors, convert touch into sound.

The II Exhibition Cycle is an initiative of the Institute of Contemporary Culture (ICCo) and was carried out with resources from the Rouanet Law, Ministry of Culture, with sponsorship from Banco BV, Laranjinha and Banco Itaú, support from Casal Garcia and Interfood, and media support from Catraca Livre.
