Forts D'Aloia & Gabriel presents Cold Parts – The DesignIran do Espírito Santo's new exhibition opens at his Jardins location in São Paulo on June 30, 2026. The show brings together a concise selection of works, including drawings and sculptures, offering a precise view of key moments in the artist's production over the last two decades. Spanning the period from 2007 to 2025, the presentation highlights the resonances of empty space, the restrained chromatic palette, and the rigorous geometries that emphasize both the continuity and the evolution of his practice.
Among the highlights is the wall painting. Untitled (Fence) (2007), originally conceived for the central presentation of the 52nd Venice Biennale. Also exhibited for the first time in Brazil, Line and Shadow 4 (2013) was initially developed for a project at the Ingleby Gallery and revisited by the artist for this occasion. The new sculpture Compass (2025), a stainless steel enlargement of a technical drawing compass, lays down a direct relationship with the mechanisms and gesture of drawing, as well as with the intellectual and conceptual dimensions of formal construction present in the work of Iran do Espírito Santo.
Through a visual language marked by geometric rigor, technical precision, and economy of means, the artist investigates the mechanisms of representation and the boundaries between object, image, and perception. His works address familiar forms through paradox: although they seem to describe reality with remarkable fidelity, they end up revealing themselves as artificial constructions, simulacra that continually shift the viewer's experience between presence and representation.
