The beauty and strength of the ancestral feminine make an impact on the eyes of those who observe the paintings that have reached the Rio Art Museum. The first solo exhibition by indigenous artist Daiara Tukano, in the city of Rio de Janeiro, will open at MAR, starting on May 10th. Sample "Pamuri Pati – World of transformation” is carried out in partnership with the Millan gallery, from São Paulo, which represents the artist, and will be on display until August 25th. Through the exhibition, Daiara Tukano talks about the social transformations that can be observed from the perspective of the feminine and the indigenous people themselves. For her, this is due to a resumption of the “ancestral memory” with which society reconnects. “I want to share a little of the culture of my people, but also this experience of struggle”, says the artist.

The Rio Art Museum is a facility owned by the City of Rio, under the responsibility of the Municipal Secretariat of Culture, managed by the Organization of Ibero-American States (OEI). The exhibition presents a retrospective of the artist's career, bringing together more than 70 works, including paintings, sculptures and installations.

The expression “Pamuri Pati” means “world of transformation”, a concept rooted in indigenous culture: “For us, the beings of the world are beings in transformation. The changing world brings all these narratives from petroglyphs (representations engraved by man in stone or rocks), which are the oldest paintings on rocks and waterfalls”, highlights Daiara.

Receive the exhibition “Pamuri Pati – World of transformation” is to fulfill MAR's mission of bringing the language and perceptions of contemporary Brazilian artists. “Enabling access to the expression of so much strength and diversity of indigenous peoples, valuing the language, which is the basis of the social connection of all peoples, strengthens MAR as an open and plural space, which promotes art and culture”, says Leonardo Barchini, director of OEI in Brazil.
