Exhibition "the (time)" by Waltercio Caldas

Casa Roberto Marinho expands the exhibition program. the (time), individual of Waltercio Caldas, with a film festival conceived by the artist himself. Bringing together 20 classicsThe selection establishes a dialogue with central themes in his work, such as time, space, perception, language, and the construction of images.

“Jean-Luc Godard said that if cinema isn’t capable of telling us about something that doesn’t exist, it will only be an industry,” comments Waltercio. “The films selected here give us a new perspective on this almost absurd idea that we call reality. Being confronted with invented facts redeems us from a relentless daily life that insists on making us disbelieve the multiple ways of seeing the facts. In these cases, fiction liberates us.”

Over ten weeks, the exhibition invites the public to establish new relationships with the exhibition through productions made between the 1930s and 2020s by fundamental names in world cinema such as Andrei Tarkovsky, Jean-Luc Godard, Luchino Visconti, Michelangelo Antonioni, Orson Welles, Stanley Kubrick, and Wim Wenders. Among the Brazilian titles are... earth in trance, by Glauber Rocha, and Limit, by Mario Peixoto.

The sessions take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays, always at 15 pm, until September 22nd, with no additional admission fee. Tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, and can be collected thirty minutes before each screening. The auditorium at Casa Roberto Marinho is accessible to people with physical disabilities and has a capacity of 34 spectators.
