The exhibition is on display Megabichos – Poetic Mathematics, Wild Geometry, by the designer and visual artist Marcos Scorzelli, and on Cultural Box Fortaleza! Curated by Guto Nobre, the exhibition features 14 colorful mega-sculptures made of steel plates, all displayed in the gardens of the cultural facility. Sponsored by CAIXA and the Federal Government, the exhibition will be open to visitors from August 27 to November 3, with free admission.
During the exhibition, visitors of all ages will be able to see and interact with the three-meter-tall giraffe, horse, bull, hummingbird, rhea, octopus and other animals. These works portray a vibrant jungle in three-dimensional forms, created from flat two-dimensional figures such as triangles, circles and squares. The idea is to create surprises for the viewer, awakening the child within each viewer.
The works evoke the artist's childhood and memories of his family life. This is because Marcos Scorzelli reinterpreted the old paper creations he made with his father, Roberto Scorzelli, also a visual artist, now transforming them into mega sculptures. Originally, these pieces were made with precise cuts and folds, without wasting any material — a practice that has endured over time, strengthening the bond between father and son. With Marcos, this tradition has been renewed from a new perspective.
“The exhibition is a magical and fun mathematics, with immense educational power. The apparent simplicity of transforming a flat geometric shape into a spatial volume, creating figures of colorful, dynamic and personality-filled animals, makes you dream and will certainly enchant the whole family”, highlights Scorzelli.
