An exponent, articulator and well-known figure of the exhibition “Como vai você, Geração 80?”, inaugurated on July 14, 1984 at Parque Lage, and which celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2024, the artist captures the tactile richness of the Earth and brings to light the complexity and beauty of the elements that compose it, through the use of natural pigments, while at the same time giving the work an ethereal and transcendental dimension by evoking the expanded luminosity of outer space, in contrast with such concrete materiality.
By revealing how light and matter intertwine to form the essence of our universe, Xico Chaves invites us to explore the intersection between the tangible and the intangible. “Light of Matter” It is a celebration of the complex connection between the terrestrial microcosm and the celestial macrocosm, as well as a unique sensory and contemplative experience.
