Immersive exhibition "Tarsila's Brazil"

Tarsila do Amaral She is a central figure of Brazilian modernism and one of the greatest icons of the country's visual arts. Approaching her 140th birthday, the artist will have an exhibition worthy of her career: 'Tarsila's Brazil' opens in August in a new exhibition space in São Paulo, the Nubank Arte Lab, the largest and most modern venue for exhibitions and immersive experiences in Brazil, with a highly technological, sensory, and interactive structure.

Located in the Conjunto Nacional complex, the project was conceived by Aventura — under the leadership of co-CEOs Aniela Jordan, Luiz Calainho, and Giulia Jordan — and Deeplab Project, by Felipe Reif, with Nubank, which holds the naming rights for the space, with an opening scheduled for August 15th.

Already 'Tarsila's Brazil' is presented by the Ministry of Culture, via the Federal Law for Cultural Incentive, with master sponsorship from EMS, and support from Alelo, IRB(Re) and BNY. The project is a production of Tarsila SA, led by Paola do Amaral Montenegro, and Live Idea, by João Giani, in co-production with Deeplab and Aventura.

About the exhibition

Across more than ten rooms, Tarsila's visual universe will be revisited through... Monumental 360-degree projections, immersive set design, soundtrack e interactive devices Featuring special effects and even aromas that will guide visitors on a large-scale sensory journey through approximately 40 works by the artist, including iconic paintings, drawings, sketches, and illustrations.

More than just admiring his works, the public will be invited to interact, explore, and immerse themselves in environments that reveal his references, his trajectory, and the artistic context that marked his production.

The proposal engages with a contemporary language already internationally recognized through immersive exhibitions dedicated to artists such as Monet and Van Gogh, which transformed the interaction between the public and the visual arts. Now, it's a Brazilian artist's turn to occupy this space.

All the audiovisual content in the exhibition was developed by visual artists, not by artificial intelligence, ensuring aesthetic consistency and respect for the original works. The aim is to use technology as a means of enhancing the artistic experience, not as a replacement for creation.

'Tarsila's Brazil' seeks to bring new audiences closer to art and to cultivate future museum visitors and visual arts enthusiasts. The exhibition was designed to welcome families, spark the curiosity of children and young people, and open doors for people who may never have had direct contact with Tarsila's work.

The exhibition is curated by Paola do Amaral Montenegro and Juliana Miraldi. Paola, manager of Tarsila do Amaral SA, worked directly on constructing the narrative framework of the exhibition, ensuring fidelity to the artist's trajectory and legacy. Juliana Miraldi, a researcher and curator of immersive exhibitions, structures the conceptual dimension of the show by integrating academic research in visual arts with contemporary languages ​​of digital art.

The exhibition will bring together immersive reinterpretations of emblematic works such as Abaporu, Antropofagia, A Cuca, Operários and O Sono, as well as other important works such as São Paulo, Religiões Brasileiras, Figura só and Autorretrato (Le Manteau Rouge). The exhibition will also include drawings and travel records made by the artist, revealing landscapes and references that profoundly marked her production.

'Tarsila's Brazil' will take the audience on a deep dive into the artist's imagination, filled with vibrant colors, landscapes, and Brazilian characters, inviting the public to traverse her forms within a sensory experience that connects Art and Technology.
