Exhibition “Hassis 100 Years - Exhibition Room”

Having an original work by the artist Hassis at home, and integrating a fragment of the history of visual arts in Santa Catarina into one's personal collection, is a rare opportunity for collectors and admirers of unique pieces. The exhibition “Hassis 100 Years – Exhibition RoomThe exhibition brings together more than 10 works by the artist, including paintings and drawings, specially selected for those seeking collectible art with historical relevance, cultural value, and exclusivity. The opening is free and starts at 19 pm.

Helena Fretta, who was a friend of Hassis and received him at the gallery, highlights that the exhibition presents works that span different phases of the artist's career. The representation of Santa Catarina's popular culture, such as traditional festivals, urban scenes, fishermen, sailors, Carnival, and seascapes, frequently appears in the artist's paintings and drawings. "Through intense colors and figures in motion, his works narrate stories and reveal a modern artist with a strong expressionist language, capable of transforming the everyday into vibrant and expressive art," she shares.

The exhibition is part of the Exhibition Room Project from the gallery Helena Fretta Art Gallery and is part of Hassis Project 100 Years, which honors the centenary of the birth of Hiedy de Assis Corrêa, known as Hassis, a central figure in the visual arts of Santa Catarina in the second half of the 20th century.

“There are artists who leave behind works of art. Hassis also left his presence. In this year that would have marked his centenary, I remember not only the master of intense strokes and inexhaustible imagination, but also the friend who, almost every Saturday, crossed the gallery door to share what he loved most: art, life, and time. Our conversations shaped my perspective and strengthened my journey as a gallery owner. His generosity was as remarkable as his painting,” recalls the gallery owner, who emphasizes that it is a privilege to pay this tribute to the artist who left his mark on the history of art in Santa Catarina.

The exhibition “Hassis 100 Years – Exhibition Room”, which presents original and highly representative pieces, especially for collectors, will be short-term and can be visited until August 22nd, Monday to Friday, from 10 am to 18 pm, and on Saturdays, from 10 am to 13 pm. The Helena Fretta Art Gallery is located at Rua Presidente Coutinho, 532, in the center of Florianópolis.
