The exposure "Threads, between poetics and plots” presents previously unpublished works by Anna Helena Cazzani, Bel Barcellos, Caroline Veilson, Daniela Vignoli e Laura Villarosa, artists who use thread and its poetic/plastic possibilities in a unique way in their research. The thread sometimes appears as a three-dimensional line that scratches, creates shapes, figures, fills spaces, delimits borders or sometimes as an element that sutures, unites parts, makes links.
The thread moves through each artist's research in a unique way and driven by different intentions. In Anna Helena Cazzani's work, materials such as ropes and rubberized cables are used to create lines and volumes that draw the space with movements and rhythms that defy gravity and tension the space, incorporating architecture not only as a support but as a constitutive part of the work; in Bel Barcellos' work, the thread sews a link with her feminine ancestry and weaves figurative images that wander about her emotional universe and the immersion provoked by the practice of embroidery; for Caroline Veilson, the thread relates to the play of presence and absence of the memories that the objects carry and, in geometric patterns, the threads are sewn onto paper forming shadows projected from household items, a tactile shadow that gives body to this impermanence; in Daniela Vignoli's work, the thread gains colors and is filled with poetic and spiritual meanings by interfering with the authorial photographs that the artist records with delicate embroidery, superimposing realities; while Laura Villarosa develops in-depth research around the idea of landscape and its new configurations, masterfully articulating the equalization of artisanal techniques, painting and materiality of images.
“Threads, between poetics and plots” weaves together the different perspectives and practices of these five artists who share delicacy, patience, craftsmanship and the freedom to reinterpret a material historically linked to the feminine universe. In its multiple meanings, symbologies and contexts, their poetics trace new textures on the horizons of contemporary art.
