Meanwhile, individual of Carolina martinez debut in Marilia Razuk GalleryFeaturing previously unseen works, the artist presents paintings, sculptures, and a large-format installation. Approximately 2,40 meters tall, “Seven Planes in Company” is a three-dimensional work made of wood, coated with layers of acrylic paint and varnish, and is an immersive invitation “to the perception of the spaces we inhabit,” in the words of Catarina Duncan in her critical text.

“Carolina’s research starts from physical and material structures that, through color, can make us realize that we are constantly traversed by where we live. Architecture acts as a device for amplifying perception, and color as a structural language. Chromatic fields function as a matter of transformation. Thus, Carolina’s work makes explicit that we are constantly affected by where we are, by sensations that are not named, that are invisible and still escape us,” reports Catarina.

For this exhibition, the use of ceramics in her creations is another distinguishing feature. By taking the place of canvases, the raw material reinforces her exploration of different materialities. It is not the first time that ceramics have been transformed into art by Carolina's hands, but a maturation is now evident. With different dimensions and formats, the asymmetry, both in the works and in the exhibition design, should also be highlighted. There is no linear aesthetic in Entretempos: the works are arranged alternately, creating a dynamic spatiality, breaking with the pattern of traditional exhibitions.

It is also worth mentioning the “Perimeters” series. Started in 2015, the artist incorporates wooden slats that follow the boundaries of the color fields, but extend beyond the plane of the support. Blurring the boundaries between object and painting, the works in the series enter the surface of the wall through the projection of shadows, “as if bringing the painting out of the space of the canvas,” explains the artist. In “Small Portals,” in turn, Carolina presents three works in which oil and acrylic on ceramic and acrylic on plywood do justice to her artistic research and experimentation.
