A Casagaleria hosts the artists' first collective exhibition Alberto Duvivier Tembo, Chris Coutinho e Maristela SR, which reveals the many layers of meaning that united these three artists just over a year ago.
Looking at nature from multiple perspectives points both to the naturalness of us, as an animal species, but also to the abyss we have dug and which now threatens our existence.
Thinking about animal life in its beauty and right to exist reveals Alberto's keen eye. His conversation with natural materials – earth, fire, pigment – salutes the life that insists on (r)existing in the face of imminent collapse.
By listening to uncertainties, he builds his pictorial path, which is also resistance.
Chris Coutinho's images are filled with the natural remains of the urban environment. His process involves several layers, both physical – especially paper, his main material axis – and the creation of the works themselves, demanding a long time, in contrast to the pace of the metropolis.
Provoking the sensitive to natural cycles from traces of life reveals Maristela SR's desire. Her creative processes involve a long period of time, between collections, pressings and flirting with forms, until it becomes possible to construct a graphic dialogue between a human and part of another non-human creature.
In addition to the nature that is theirs, these three artists also find themselves in creative processes that involve manual creations and a time of creation that resists the automatism of life in the 21st century, a time closer to life in/of nature, a time that the artists seek to echo in other existences.
