A Silvia Cintra Gallery + Box4 inaugurates After the Monument, solo exhibition by the artist Laercio Redondo in collaboration with Birger LipinskiThe exhibition presents a collection of approximately twenty new works that delve deeper into the artist's research on collective memory and historical erasures, using classical visuality as a starting point.
The exhibition features curatorial text by Ana Magalhães.
The exhibition proposes a sophisticated interplay of materials and scales. The body of the show consists of a series of monotypes on ceramic plates, where fragments of Greco-Roman statuary emerge in dialogue with three-dimensional arrangements. In these compositions, marble and latex fruits occupy the walls, subverting the logic of the traditional still life and inviting the viewer to a sensory experience that incorporates, among other things, sound and temporal dimensions.
By juxtaposing icons historically associated with the permanence and idealization of the human body with industrial and ephemeral materials, Laercio Redondo explores the transformations of these references in the contemporary context. The exhibition highlights fundamental tensions in the artist's work: the clash between the classical and its successive reinterpretations, the boundary between the monumental and the decorative, and the fragility between what is permanent and what is unstable.
After the Monument continues Laercio's recurring investigations, in which images and objects operate as critical tools for reflecting on visual culture and the construction of the collective imagination in contemporary society.
