A Roberto Marinho House announces the show Conversations between collections, which will open on December 15, 2023, from 12 pm. At the suggestion of the Marinho brothers, the director of the institute, Lauro Cavalcanti, invited six of the most important collectors in the country to curate the exhibition spaces of the mansion in Cosme Velho, South Zone of Rio, establishing an artistic dialogue between the House's collection and pieces from their private collections.

“With great joy we received, from December 2023 to March 2024, 256 works by 127 artists, which belong to collectors who are fundamental to the creation and memory of current Brazilian art”, celebrate the patrons of the House.

From the immersion in the set assembled by journalist Roberto Marinho, with around 1.400 pieces on different supports, Andrea and José Olympio Pereira, Luciana and Luis Antonio de Almeida Braga, Mara and Marcio Fainziliber, Marcia and Luiz Chrysostomo de Oliveira Filho, Paulo Vieira , Mônica and George Kornis had curatorial autonomy to explore the visual possibilities of this meeting and organize their rooms. The result is a kind of intergenerational point of convergence for Brazilian collecting.

Among many works still unpublished to the public, the selections include modernists and contemporaries of different nationalities, such as Abdias do Nascimento (1914-2011), Adriana Varejão, Ai Weiwei, Alberto Guignard (1896-1962), Anna Maria Maiolino, Beatriz Milhazes, Candido Portinari (1903-1962), Di Cavalcanti (1897-1976), Djanira (1914-1979), Ernesto Neto, Iberê Camargo (1914-1994), Iole de Freitas, Ismael Nery (1900-1934), José Pancetti (1902 -1958), Lasar Segall (1889-1957), Leonilson (1957-1993), Lucia Laguna, Luiz Zerbini, Maria Helena Vieira da Silva (1908-1992), Mira Schendel (1919-1988), Mona Hatoum, Pierre Soulages ( 1919-2022), Roberto Magalhães, Rubens Gerchman (1942-2008), Sonia Gomes, Tarsila do Amaral (1886-1973), Vik Muniz and others.

“By bringing together hundreds of pieces from different artistic mediums and currents, the new exhibition is a rare opportunity for the public to see productions from different times and geographies. With it, we end a very fruitful year for the House with a flourish”, says Lauro Cavalcanti, who is responsible for the general coordination of the project
