cOntra pLaNo occupies the Casa da América Latina with video art produced in Brasília.
A House of Latin America (CAL/UnB) receives Counter planThis exhibition, organized by the video art club project vis | UnB, brings together 74 artists from different generations, creating an unprecedented overview of video art production in Brasília and the Federal District. The opening takes place on Thursday, July 9th, at 19 pm, with free admission.
Curated and produced collaboratively by Professor Bia Morgado and extension students from the video art club, the exhibition brings together works by invited artists, pieces selected through a public call for submissions, and videos borrowed from the Casa da América Latina collection. The collection establishes dialogues between historical and contemporary productions by artists such as Milton Marques, Ana Vaz, Dalton Paula, Márcio H. Mota, Gu da Cei, Christus Nóbrega, Guerreiro do Divino Amor, João Angelini, and João Castilho, among many others.
The exhibition encourages encounters between artists who, even though they live in the same city, may not be familiar with each other's work. According to curator Bia Morgado, "By proposing video as a link between artists of different generations and backgrounds, cOnTrA pLaNo creates community while it happens."
Throughout the residency, CAL transforms into a space for the continuous circulation of images, bringing together works that move between cinema, visual arts, performance, poetry, cartography, and installation. In addition to ten installations in expanded video formats, the program includes works organized into seven curatorial programs: restart and re-start and throw; Brasília is the image of my insomnia; What I remember, I have; Repeat, repeat — until it becomes different; If I could explain it, it wouldn't be a dream; The beauty of Brasília lies in its invisible statues; and Letters to Nam June Paik.
