Collective exhibition "TENDA"

Unfolding into three, the collective sees Marcia Thompson, Marta Jourdan e Enrica Bernardelli thinking about the aesthetic object from a dilution of matter and time.

Painting from one's own destruction is a question that converges towards the painting-objects of Marcia Thompson. The artist manually builds three-dimensional devices, produced from the action of unraveling that which could conceptually transmit support to the painting: linen, thread or rope, as in the six works exhibited at Galeria Mercedes Viegas.

For Marta Jourdan, walks are essential elements in the construction of her works. Her works are often born from the collections she makes in the countryside and in the city. Her objects are based on the relationship between wood, stones and various other materials, as we can see in the six works that the artist presents in the exhibition.

Enrica Bernardelli’s works are part of the film “U”, an imagined cinema, not always projected, being represented in different ways — like a plan in development, but without a record of the beginning, much less the end. Her works aim to provoke a state of indistinction between dream and reality. The two photographic doubles presented in the exhibition are frames from the film “U”.

In TENDA, the three artists create a place that is constructed from the unfinished. Because Thompson's painting, Jourdan's objects and Bernardelli's gap between delirium and reality propose a dialogue based on a sense of incompleteness, challenging a society that anxiously seeks ready-made formulas.
