In colaboration with Cristina Tolovi e Luana Strong, Marília Razuk Gallery presents BedroomThis group exhibition continues a curatorial investigation that articulates domestic spaces and their symbolic and affective dimensions. The exhibition will be held at Anexo Galeria Marilia Razuk, number 62 on Rua Jerônimo da Veiga, a space dedicated to special projects.
Starting from the idea of this room as an intimate and private environment, the exhibition proposes a sensitive approach to this territory where the individual finds themselves and, occasionally, others. The works gathered reflect on states of solitude, relationships of romantic and/or sexual companionship, as well as exploring the dream world, reveries, and subjective constructions that emerge in this space.
Cristina Tolovi points out: “Bedroom "It's part of a space we all know, but rarely think about: the place where subjectivity is formed. The exhibition brings together works that address this intimate territory as a refuge, but also as an active field of construction, where desires, memories, and tensions take shape."
The exhibition expands on issues already addressed in the group show Dining Room, also held at Anexo Galeria Marilia Razuk in May 2025, which took as its starting point the emblematic work Hôtel du Pavot, Room 202, by Dorothea Tanning, establishing connections between surrealism and her investigations into the unconscious and domestic space.
Bringing together artists such as Alan Chu, Ana Dias Batista, Ana Sant'Anna, A Transälien, Bruno Faria, Carolina Colichio, Débora Bolzsoni, Estúdio Rain, Juliana Sedó, Karola Braga, Lyz Parayzo, Marcus Deusdedit, Maria Tereza Bomfim, Mónica Heller, Patricia Faragone, Regina Vater, Rodrigo Bueno, Rose Afefé, Seba Calfuqueo and Thiago Honório, the group exhibition proposes an immersive journey through different contemporary approaches that investigate intimacy, the body, desire and spaces of retreat.
“After passing the dining room, a walk down a dark hallway leads to the bedroom. If, before, we sought to take the first step into the intimacy associated with the domestic space, now we take the others. We arrive at the space that can reveal the most about its owner. In the dining room, there were small revelations, but they were controlled and often mixed with exhibitionist strategies related to how someone would like to be seen,” says Luana Fortes. According to Luana, in the bedroom, there is little room for strategy. Therefore, this exhibition focuses on more subtle aspects of the moment when people retreat to their bedrooms where they sleep.
Bedroom It invites the public to traverse a sensitive territory where the private becomes shareable and where the bedroom, more than a physical space, reveals itself as a field of subjective projection, memory, and imagination.
