Group exhibition "Fascination and Affection"

A Nara Roesler presents the collective exhibition Fascination and affection, curated by Agnaldo FariasThe exhibition brings together historical and previously unseen works by Abraham Palatnik, Amelia Toledo, Artur Lescher, Brígida Baltar, Julio Le Parc, Tomie Ohtake, Rodolpho Parigi, Vik Muniz e José Cláudio da Silva, artists with whom Nara built friendships, fostering constant contact and the development of their careers in the national and international artistic fields.

Second exhibition andin celebration of 50 years Based on Nara's career as a gallery owner, the exhibition takes as its starting point the friendships and relationships she cultivated over decades of working in the art world.

The project also marks another chapter in the long dialogue between Nara Roesler and Agnaldo Farias, who, in addition to having worked as a curator for biennials and important institutional exhibitions in Brazil and abroad, has also been a friend of the gallery owner for about 30 years and is responsible for curating more than 16 exhibitions held at the gallery.

In his text, Agnaldo Farias recalls Nara's upbringing in Recife, in a house marked by encounters between musicians, artists, architects, writers, and intellectuals. "It was precisely from this atmosphere that her enduring fascination with the extraordinary universe of culture was born," he writes, linking the gallery owner's trajectory to an idea of ​​constant dialogue with artists, beyond the professional relationship.

Among the highlights of the exhibition is the series of jigsaw puzzles by Vik MunizIn this work, the artist subverts the traditional logic of the object by dissociating the image from the fitting of its pieces. "A puzzle piece is, at the same time, image and object," he states. Muniz about the works. The exhibition also includes a 2011 installation by Brígida Baltar, exhibited for the first time in São Paulo this decade, composed of a harp and bronze wings suspended in space, in a tension between elevation and fall, the angelic and the mundane.

From the kinetic and luminous experiences of Julius Le Park e Abraham Palatnik to the organic structures of Amelia Toledo e Tomie OhtakeDrawing on the formal investigations of Artur Lescher and Rodolpho Parigi, the collective exhibition articulates different generations and languages ​​around bonds of proximity and mutual support. Right at the entrance of the exhibition, a portrait of Nara painted by José Cláudio, a decisive artist in her approach to the art world, welcomes the public.
