A Base Gallery it presents "Cosmatéria”, a group exhibition that brings together works by Arthur Arnold, Lucas Länder, Montez Magno e Natalia Guarçoni"Each artist gets an exhibition space," adds Daniel Maranhão, director of the gallery.
The exhibition stems from an investigation of matter as a poetic, physical, and symbolic element, bringing together different artistic practices around processes of transformation, wear and tear, accumulation, and instability.
With critical text by Marina Câmara, “Cosmatéria” brings together paintings, objects, photographs, and assemblages that explore materials such as sand, cement, pigments, wax, resin, and mortar. In common, the works share an interest in the sensitive dimension of matter, not only as a support, but as a living, unstable, and constantly mutating organism.
The exhibition includes historical and experimental works by Montez Magno, a central figure in Brazilian contemporary art, alongside the material research of Natália Guarçoni, the organic assemblages of Lucas Länder, and the dense compositions of Arthur Arnold. Despite the formal differences between the artists, the show proposes a field of convergence between practices that challenge the boundaries between construction and erosion, form and formlessness, permanence and transformation.
Inspired by references spanning authors such as Georges Bataille and Emanuele Coccia, "Cosmatéria" suggests a reflection on the relationship between body, nature, and matter, understanding materials as elements in flux, traversed by time, chance, and memory.
