o Paulistano Municipal Market, Market, will be the stage for a special exhibition dedicated to the characters of the iconic Chaves series. Entitled “Chaves – The Most Beloved Village Gang!“, the exhibition features a series of graffiti inspired by the series that won over generations of fans throughout Brazil.
The initiative is a collaboration between the Ministry of Culture, the Secretariat of Culture, Economy and Creative Industry of the State of São Paulo, Catavento Cultural e Educacional, and Fábricas de Cultura Setor A. The exhibition features the participation of eight renowned graffiti artists, each bringing their unique vision of the characters that marked an era.
According to the CEO of Mercado SP, the concessionaire that manages Mercadão and Mercado Kinjo Yamato, the event not only celebrates Children’s Month, but also unites popular culture with urban art. “It’s an incredible opportunity to see how art can transform and reimagine elements of popular culture. At Mercadão, we are always looking for initiatives that promote cultural and artistic diversity, and this exhibition is a perfect example of that,” he says.
Guest artists include:
- * RodryXXX, which pays homage to Kiko;
- * Paco, with a work dedicated to Chaves;
- * Adhesive Vinyl, which portrays Chiquinha;
- * Kid, with graffiti by Seu Madruga;
- * Nill, who celebrates Seu Barriga;
- * Zulu Tiquinho, with Nhonho;
- * Bomfim, which presents a painting with Dona Florinda and Professor Girafales.
The works were created live during the event “Santos Festival Geek”, the largest festival in the Baixada Santista in the geek universe, promoted by the Secretariat of Culture of Santos. This event was attended by Edgar Vivar, the actor who played “Senhor Barriga”, providing a unique experience for the participants, who were able to closely follow the creative process at the Fábrica de Cultura Setor A.
The exhibition “Chaves – A Turma da Vila Mais Querida!” has free admission, is open to the public and will be on display until October 30th.

Vladner Sibrão of Lima
Through the universal language of graffiti art, Vinil Colante transforms dull and unnoticed walls into an explosion of colors and shapes, which range from figurative to abstract. No one remains inert when faced with the expressive force of his works, which print on the streets from images with roots in the urban artists of the 1980s and 1990s in New York, as well as containing information of protest and social criticism.

Fernando Egea Uribe, an artist who began his career in the graffiti scene in 2004, creating interventions in the cities of Baixada Santista, with a strong focus on letters and abstract works. Graduated in arts from the Metropolitan University of Santos, he has exhibited his art on canvases, walls and urban art projects throughout the coast of São Paulo and the capital. He is a member of two important graffiti crews in Baixada Santista: the OGS Crew (Organização Graffiti Santos) and is also part of the graffiti art collective.

David de Matos Prieto, also known as KID, has moved from the graffiti scene of the 90s to the renowned contemporary galleries of today. His collection ranges from the roots of vandalism to pure expressions of contemporary art. With an extensive urban portfolio, his works can be seen throughout the metropolitan region of Baixada Santista. Every day, new inspirations arise in his mind, manifesting themselves in artistic interventions that reflect his daily life.

Zulu Tiquinho, who holds a degree in Visual Arts from Universidade Santa Cecília, has been an active member of Zulu Nation since 2008, a US-based NGO that promotes the fundamental principles of Hip Hop: peace, love, unity and fun. Zulu Nation, led by Afrika Bambaataa, is recognized for its educational approach, holding lectures called “Infinity Lessons” that cover a variety of topics, from knowledge to disease prevention. Committed to the values of Zulu Nation, Zulu Tiquinho, together with King Nino Brown, founder of Zulu Nation Brazil, promotes Hip Hop culture through educational activities and events.

Erico Bomfim, also known as BOMFIM, has a decade of experience as an Art Director at an advertising agency. During this time, he dedicated himself to illustration, creating campaigns, logos and various projects. In search of his own artistic identity, Bomfim left the agency environment to become an independent artist. He began his artistic journey by painting the iconic “5” of Cine Roxy, gradually gaining recognition in the city. He contributed to the identity of Vila Criativas, leaving his mark on places such as Rua Gastronômica (Tolentino Filgueiras) and Rua do Samba (Fundão do Estuário), demonstrating his commitment to Santos.

Thiago Martori has a degree in Advertising and Visual Arts, as well as a postgraduate degree in Art Education and Art Therapy. Author of monographs on Urban Art and its branches, he has worked as an art educator in the public and private education system since 2013. In addition, he teaches art workshops in several cities across the country.

Born in Santos, aged 46, he has a degree in Administrative Management with an emphasis on the port area and has been working as a self-taught artist since 1999, standing out as a muralist. With more than 1 panels produced in Baixada Santista over 23 years, he is recognized for his contribution to the local art scene.
