A Listening to Steps Dance Company presents the showXirê de Erê" at the sesc ConsolationAimed at children and their families, the production invites the audience to immerse themselves in a universe of dance, play, ancestry, and celebration of Black culture, with laughter as the guiding thread of this experience. In this setup, the “XirêIt is also accessible to visually impaired children, with audio description integrated into the scene as a feature that invites and makes the imagination dance. The performances take place on Saturdays at 11 am. August 8nd, 15rd, 22th and 29th, and 5, and 12 September 19.
Lasting 45 minutes, the show can be experienced through various senses and begins with the question: "If one black smile brings happiness, now imagine many?". Inspired by the book "Flutuantes" by writer Rosana Rios, the work investigates the physicality of black children, transforming laughter into choreographic language.
On stage, artists Paula Salles and Jô Pereira lead an experience where laughter is also dancing. The performance proposes reflections on the importance of guaranteeing Black children the right to joy, play, and a full existence, in a social context still marked by racism and violence against Black children and adolescents.
Ouvindo Passos Dance Company develops an artistic research project called “Poetics of InterferenceIn this work, dance is constructed from the creation of bonds between artists and the audience. The company seeks to understand how these bonds promote access to Black ancestry, as well as to reflect on the racial intersections that permeate experiences and relationships in society. Their works delve into the universe of gesture as a possibility to transform the body into a territory of connections and meanings, choreographing gestures based on people's words, listening, beliefs, and laughter.
