Fusae Uramoto – Surfing Granny

Dona Fusae is an example that age is not an obstacle to anything. Coming from Japan at the age of 3, Fusae only speaks her native language at home and is not fully fluent in Portuguese, but she has learned to enjoy life like a genuine Brazilian: enjoying the beach. The Japanese-Brazilian, who has lived in Santos since the 1970s, decided, just over seven years ago, to attend surf lessons at the school run by Cisco Araña, a living legend of the sport in Baixada Santista. It does not stop there. When she turned 77, Fusae decided to celebrate in style and paraglide. In addition to extreme sports, she has also practiced numerous Japanese martial arts. When she is not adventuring, Dona Fusae takes care of her house and is already planning a new endeavor, this time a little more relaxed: learning to play the harmonica.
