    CURITIBA BIENNIAL | At the 16th Curitiba Biennial, the CURITIBA BIENNIAL | At the 16th Curitiba Biennial, the work of Peruvian retablo artist Mabilón Jiménez Quispe occupies an entire wall of the MON (Oscar Niemeyer Museum). Retablo is an art form of medieval European origin that developed in Peru, in the Ayacucho region. The pieces resemble oratories, wooden boxes with hinged doors whose interior reveals everyday scenes executed with meticulous detail, in settings such as bars, grocery stores, and workshops. The figures are traditionally modeled in cooked potato paste and plaster, although pure industrial plaster is also used today. The 16th Curitiba Biennial runs until November 15, 2026.
    COURSES | FGV Arte opens registration for training COURSES | FGV Arte is opening registrations for the course “Curatorship: History, Theory and Practice,” which will take place in Rio de Janeiro between August and November 2026. Coordinated by Pollyana Quintella, curator of the Pinacoteca de São Paulo, the course covers the institutionalization of the curatorial field to the issues that permeate it today — decolonial practices, repatriation, shared curatorship, institutional critique — and culminates in a laboratory for the participants' own projects.     BOOK | With Nolan's Odyssey in theaters, you BOOK | With Nolan's Odyssey in theaters, you can take advantage of the momentum to delve deeper into Homer's journey with the new edition of the poem by Ubu Editora, translated by associate professor Christian Werner and illustrated by artist Odires Mlászho. According to poet and translator Guilherme Gontijo Flores, in an article for Folha de S.Paulo, this is the Brazilian translation that best preserves the original orality of the Greek text. The edition also includes an introduction by the American Homer scholar Richard Martin, an afterword by writer and philosophy professor Luiz Alfredo Garcia-Roza, two appendices: "The Silence of the Sirens" by Franz Kafka, and the poem "Ithaca" by Konstantínos Kaváfis, and a glossary of proper names.

    EXHIBITION | "Freedom: a plural neighborhood", on display EXHIBITION | "Liberdade: Bairro Plural" (Liberty: A Plural Neighborhood), on display at the Museu do Ipiranga, chose to address the history of the Liberdade neighborhood through the institutions that occupied it over time, "including those that are no longer in the neighborhood and were forced to leave by political movements, basically," explains curator Paulo Garcez Marins. This happened with the Frente Negra Brasileira (Brazilian Black Front), perhaps the most surprising revelation of the exhibition. The research conducted by Garcez, Mônica Raisa Schpun, Aline Montenegro Magalhães, Francisco Andrade, and David Ribeiro concluded that the Frente Negra Brasileira operated where the Casa de Portugal building is located today and left no archives, as did the Liga Itálica (Italian League), which closed in 2010 and whose presence was also practically erased from history.     MUSEUMS | In 2026, Inhotim will celebrate its 20th anniversary and with MUSEUMS | In 2026, Inhotim celebrates its 20th anniversary with initiatives in the arts, ecology, and education. In the latter, the "Decentralizing Access" project stands out, one of the institution's longest-running initiatives, which this year invites teachers from all over the country to investigate the museum's own collection. Created in 2008, "Decentralizing Access"—an initiative of the museum's Education and Territory Directorate in partnership with the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG)—adopts a theme each year. This year, the chosen theme is the institution's own collection, composed of more than 1.800 works by over 280 artists.
