As part of the project to internationalize the Escola de Artes Visuais do Parque Lage (Rio de Janeiro), the director of the institution, Fabio Szwarcwald, announces next Wednesday, February 13th, the first edition of the Parque Lage Award, held in partnership with the New York organization AnnexB.

Students and alumni graduated in the last biennium of EAV Parque Lage can apply to compete for the award, which will have a jury formed by representatives of both institutions. The winner will be entitled to a two-month, all-expenses-paid artist residency in New York.

Headquartered in Parque Lage, in a building listed by IPHAN, EAV is one of the most important art educational institutions in the country. Focused primarily on the field of contemporary visual arts, it also covers other fields of expression such as music, dance, cinema, theater and literature. EAV's activities include both artistic practices and their conceptual foundations, also focusing on public education through exhibitions, events, a library and its documentary archive.

AnnexB is a non-profit organization founded in 2016 and dedicated to publicizing and promoting Brazilian art in New York. Through artist residencies, exhibitions and public programs, AnnexB works especially with early or mid-career contemporary artists. More than 50 artists have already been in residence at the institution, including names like Carla Chaim, Nino Cais and Mateu Velasco.
