Cheng its 12th edition, the SP-Arte Foto fair, which has been taking place at Shopping JK Iguatemi since 2007, is even stronger. That's because seven more galleries join the body of exhibitors. They are Emmathomas, Fortes D'Aloia & Gabriel, Gabriel Wickbold, Mapa, OMA Galeria, Silvia Cintra + Box4 and VilaNova. In addition, the return of the Nara Roesler gallery to the ensemble is also a strong point. The event takes place between the 22nd and 26th of August, with a series of lectures Talks.

A novelty of the fair is the tribute to an artist. The chosen one for this year's tribute is German Lorca, from São Paulo, who turned 96 in 2018. Lorca presents unpublished works, made for the event's magazine. The photographer will soon have a retrospective at Itaú Cultural.

Highlighted by the organization is the exhibition by the artist Luiz Roque, by the newcomer Fortes D'Aloia e Gabriel. Alexandre Gabriel, one of the gallery's directors, says that the selection of artists, which also includes Ivens Machado and Erika Verzutti, among others, was designed in such a way that the gallery debuts showing a work of great quality.

Completing one year under the management of Marcos Amaro, the Emmathomas gallery decided that it could not be left out of this edition. According to the artistic director, Ricardo Resende, the gallery has increasingly sought to establish itself in the photography market. Among the artists who will be presented at the fair are Armando Prado, Fabiano Rodrigues and Atelier do Centro, a collective recently integrated into the Emmathomas panel of artists.

Veteran Dan Galeria is betting on the selection of two national and two international artists: Christian Cravo, Cristiano Mascaro, José Manuel Ballester (Spain) and Yuri Dojc (Slovakia).  Flavio Cohn, director of the gallery's Department of Contemporary Art, confirms that the stand will rotate the artists' works.

The Lume gallery, with intense activity in the photographic field, takes three artists present in current exhibitions: Ana Vitória Mussi, who is in radical women, at the Pinacoteca de SP; Alberto Ferreira, on display at the gallery until August 29; and Denise Millan, in the gallery from September 4th. Works by Martin Parr, Julio Bittencourt and Claudio Edinger will also be present. According to Paulo Kassab Jr, the gallery started with photography and still values ​​it a lot today, being in constant research both with what was produced in the past and with what is produced in the contemporary.

In the program parallel to the exhibitions at the fair, the Talks. The highlights are the panels on the 23rd, with the Colombian curator and art historian Rodrigo Orrantia and the photojournalist Evandro Teixeira talking about historical records of May 68 in Brazil and around the world; and on the 24th, between the curator of photography at the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, Malcolm Daniel, and the Brazilian photographer Fabiana Bruno, discussing image manipulation and post-photography. In addition, photographer Bob Wolfenson, on display at Espaço Cultural Porto Seguro, will participate in a chat with the public on the 25th.
