With the aim of definitively inserting Los Angeles in the circuit of the great international art fairs, the Freeze Art Fair this year it holds its first edition in the Californian metropolis, bringing together 70 galleries in Hollywood between the 15th and 17th of February.

Despite being the second largest American city – the largest on the west coast – and home to important museums, galleries and cultural institutions, Los Angeles still did not host an art fair of this size.

The event adds to the already established editions of Frieze in London and New York and, despite presenting a smaller number of galleries compared to its partners, it brings heavy houses such as David Zwirner, Gagosian and White Cube. Mendes Wood and Vermelho will be the two Brazilian galleries present in the edition.

Frieze Los Angeles takes place at Paramount Pictures studios and also features an intense program of conversations with artists, debates and shows. One of the organizers' tactics to attract public and give visibility to the event was to insert it into the city's calendar between the Grammys, on the 10th, and the Oscars, on the 24th.
