The emergence of the exhibition
"Surrealisms": an exhibition beyond the obvious.
In June 2026, the new São Paulo headquarters of the Pinakotheke Gallery opened with the exhibition “Surrealisms: Art Beyond Reason.” Bringing together approximately 100 works by 60 European, Latin American, and American artists, it constituted one of the most important retrospectives on Surrealism in Brazil. The exhibition was organized by businessman and cultural editor Max Perlingeiro and art critic, historian, and curator Tadeu Chiarelli. Below is a transcript of the interview conducted with the curator at the time of the exhibition's opening.
