Pop Brasil: Avant-Garde and New Figuration, an exhibition that brings together a significant group of artists and representative works from the 1960s and 1970s, is simultaneously an institutional milestone, a historical recovery, and a reconnection with fundamental issues of Brazilian culture. Presented by the Pinacoteca de São Paulo as the most important event in the calendar of festivities surrounding the institution's 120th anniversary, the show also marks the 60th anniversary of the anthological show Opinião 65, a landmark of the artistic renewal movement in Brazil, and celebrates the renewal of the Roger Wright Collection, a collection that—along with the museum's—constitutes the central core of Pop Brasil.
