Carnival on the train, 1985, Walter Firmo

Brazil begins the year with two important new developments in national exhibition spaces. In Rio de Janeiro, in Vassouras, in the Vale do Café region, the Vassouras Museum was inaugurated in the former Nossa Senhora da Conceição Hospital (Santa Casa da Misericórdia), built in 1848 as the city's first hospital and protected as a Historical Heritage site. After years of being closed due to the risk of collapse, it was restored by the Vassouras Cultural Institute and completed in 2025.
