Environmental collapse and its scars – geographical, social and political – have long been the great thread of Renata Padovan. The artist herself does not remember the beginning of this process. “I've always worked with natural things, organic matter, and you can't separate nature from this environmental issue,” she says, who also anchors this interest in a childhood memory. Renata witnessed, as a little girl, the construction of the Barra Bonita dam, she saw the waters rising, leaving out only the tops of the trees, in which monkeys took refuge, screaming and being saved by a man who came and went swimming.
