A partnership of Marcos Amaro Foundation (FMA) with SP-Arte, the Marcos Amaro Art Prize reaches its third edition in 2019 and registration is open until February 28. The initiative aims to enhance contemporary artistic production, consecrating the winner with a cash prize and the realization of an exhibition project.

The artist, Brazilian or foreigner residing in Brazil, must be represented by a gallery participating in SP-Arte/2019. It is essential that at least one of the entries is on display at the gallery's stand at the fair. The award is intended for artists who are in the middle of their careers and aims to promote productions that demonstrate an experimental content with art, based on innovation in techniques, supports and languages. In previous editions, the artists Ivan Grilo from Casa Triângulo and Brígida Baltar from Galeria Nara Roesler were awarded. The inscription can be made by the artist or by the gallery that represents him.

The selection will be made by members of the advisory board of the Marcos Amaro Foundation: Ricardo Resende, Raquel Fayad, Aracy Amaral, Fábio Magalhães, Gilberto Salvador, Patricia Rousseaux and Marcos Amaro. According to the schedule, the five finalists will be announced on March 15th. The jury will visit the stands of the respective galleries on April 3 and the result will be announced on the following day, 4.

In addition to the R$ 50 offered by the FMA, the winner will be awarded up to R$ 45 for the production of an unprecedented artistic project, under the supervision of Ricardo Resende. The work will be shown individually at Fábrica de Arte Marcos Amaro, in Itu, during SP-Arte/2020 and may later be incorporated into the foundation’s collection.
