We are deeply saddened. This week, we lost Aracy Amaral in the early morning of September 15, 2026, at the age of 96. A critic, curator, and art historian, the greatest reference in Brazilian art who lived through our time, Aracy was an inexhaustible force of observation and research. A professor, writer, and curator, she left us a legacy on Brazilian modernism and, in recent years, a deep dive into contemporary art in dialogue with Latin America.
Yesterday, a young artist from São Paulo, Rodrigo Cass, 43, died in an accidental drowning on Copacabana beach. Rodrigo was experiencing a period of international recognition, with recent exhibitions at the Nevada Museum of Art in the United States and at the Catholic University of Portugal. We were also able to see him at the opening of the 39th Panorama of Brazilian Art exhibition at MAM SP, where he is participating with a series of seven videos and paintings that can be seen until January 2027.
